Dirt Book, 2024, Repurposed book, archival digital prints, acrylic paint, approx. 100,000 year old Long Island soil unaffected by glacial melt, 14 x 8 x 6 inches I created this book during my residency in the Soils Room at Swale. Working with a soil scientist, I received vibrant mauve colored soil from Long Island cliffs that due to its location was not affected by glacial melt and is approximately 100, 000 years old. I used this pure soil as pigment with PVA glue as a binder.
